You may declare yourself to be “ignorant” after you have already learned
and “self-taught” after you have already been taught.
Or eat with your hands, after you have immersed yourself in the study of savoir vivre.
Wittgenstein notes in his Tractatus:
“My propositions elucidate in the following way:
anyone who understands me eventually recognizes them as nonsensical,
when he has used them—as steps—to climb up beyond them.
(He must, so to speak, throw away the ladder after he has climbed up it.)
He must overcome these propositions, and then he will see the world aright.”
the purpose of every action and thought is to transcend them.
In order to transcend them, however, you must first conquer them.
Or in other words: profoundly comprehend them.
